If you have read past the headline I applaud you! Password security is one of those things everyone wants, just not today. Its a pain to get started, and as much as we all want to be secure, we also don't want to put the time in to make this happen. (Please tell me its not just me?)
I found myself copying and pasting a password while troubleshooting.. wait for it... login issues.... This was in front of a customer... (you-know-who-you-are-and-I'm-sorry) and I thought to myself, "OMG did I really just do that, this is bad, this is embarrassing, this really really needs to never happen again...." So, we all make mistakes and here I am working to correct one of mine. While it may not be new years, lets just call this my Spring 2017 Resolution.
Theres no time like the present, and since I'm just getting started with WiseAmi I want to make sure we get things off to the right start. Thats going to mean always using a password manager for ALL customers passwords, and ensuring ALL employees are using the password manager. This plan will set us up for success so we are able to maintain the highest customer security. It's my hope this will be just one of the many ways that WiseAmi will be different, innovative and fresh.
So, I've started using a password manager. At first it was on my phone and I had to key in each password which is probably why I gave up the first time I attempted to use it. Thankfully now I have the upgraded version (I highly recommend just paying for the upgraded version) I can sync it across devices - Oh happy day!
Also thanks to the touch ID on my sexy MacBook Pro, I can sometimes avoid needing to key in the one password I do have to remember to get into my Password manager #SmallVictories! There is a sharing feature that will let me securely share passwords with other team members, I can organize the passwords into different folders, and I can choose to generate an insanely long random password with lots of special characters if I really want to. (I know what you are thinking you big nerd, yes 'random' technically doesn't exist. To you I say, change out some characters at your own choosing and make it truly random)
Thats all for now folks, I will get back to you at the end of the year on how things have progressed. In the meantime if anyone here wants to share your ideas, or suggestions please feel free to comment!!
